How to use your result

  • Read every rationale, not just the score. A right answer for the wrong reason fails on exam day, when the options are worded differently.
  • Start with your weak areas. The result names the syllabus areas where you dropped marks. Study those first, then retake the check.
  • Coming from ITIL 4? Watch the ideas that changed: two practice groups instead of three, eight lifecycle activities and the ITIL AI Capability Model. The ITIL 4 to ITIL (Version 5) guide sets out the routes.
  • Then test at full length. Ten questions is a sample. Before you book, sit full 40-question practice papers in 60 minutes and aim to be clearly above 65%.

Method & ownership

Ten original multiple-choice questions written by ITSM Compass, one or two from each area of the ITIL Foundation (Version 5) syllabus, each checked against PeopleCert's official learner material. Your score is the number right; the bands are indicative practice only, and 7 or more out of 10 is above the exam's 65% pass mark. The formulas used here are standard, published methods. The implementation, interface, wording, findings logic and benchmark figures are original work by ITSM Compass. Results are estimates, not professional advice. See the terms of use.

Questions

Is this the real ITIL Foundation (Version 5) exam?

No. These are 10 original practice questions written by ITSM Compass and checked against the official syllabus. They are not PeopleCert sample paper questions, and the result is indicative practice, not a prediction of your exam result.

What does the real exam look like?

ITIL Foundation (Version 5) has 40 multiple-choice questions in 60 minutes, closed book, and the pass mark is 65%. Training is optional and the exam can be taken online.

Why only 10 questions?

So you can finish it in about three minutes and see where you stand. Ten questions is a small sample of the syllabus, so treat the score as a pointer to what to study, then check yourself on full 40-question practice papers.

Is my score saved or sent anywhere?

No. Everything runs in your browser. Your answers are not stored or sent, and the share button only copies a line of text to your own clipboard.

I hold ITIL 4 Foundation. Is this for me?

Yes. Several questions cover ideas that changed in Version 5, such as the two groups of management practices, the eight lifecycle activities and the ITIL AI Capability Model. If you hold ITIL 4, the ITIL Foundation Bridge (Version 5) is the shorter route to ITIL Foundation (Version 5).
